Born From Darkness
Fatal Fear Haunted House started as a passion project--a "pro-level" home haunt driven by our love for horror and a deep connection to our community. With the help of dedicated volunteers, we transformed Halloween into an unforgettable experience, with one goal in mind: to terrify and thrill our guests while raising funds for local nonprofits and performing arts venues.
Each year, we pushed the limits of what a home haunt could be, blending intense scares, immersive storytelling, and jaw-dropping effects to create a show that had the whole town talking. The lines wrapped around the block, and word spread: "There's this house in Steiner Ranch... you have to see it to believe it."
After years of terrorizing the Steiner Ranch neighborhood, we've outgrown our original home and launched at a brand-new location. This time, we've gone commercial--but we haven't lost sight of what made us great. Our haunt still delivers that same intense, immersive experience, with a gripping storyline, state-of-the-art effects, and characters that will haunt your nightmares long after you leave.
We're committed to staying true to our roots, keeping the intimate, handcrafted feel that made Fatal Fear so special. Our new location allows us to expand in ways we could only dream of, but our heart will always be in the community that supported us from the start.

Bitten by the Bug
Fatal Fear is born as a passion project by Brian and Liana Robinson, driven by a desire to terrify the local community and involve the school theater department. With the haunt bug firmly in their veins, the work began—and there was no turning back.

Partnering with the local theater department for a second year, the seeds of something magical are planted—this is when A Fairy Tale's Revenge is born, driven by a vision to create the most immersive show yet.

When COVID shut down what would have been our third year of scares, the passion never stopped. We channeled that energy into creation—building, designing, and dreaming bigger. During this time, Mortis Manor was born, and a spectacular yard display kept the spirit of fear alive in the neighborhood.

2021 was an epic year. We doubled down on creativity, crafting a fully immersive show dedicated to telling the dark story of Mortis Manor. Expanding beyond the theater groups, we recruited new actors and opened the cast to a wider range of ages—and in doing so, became a true neighborhood legend.
MilestoneA Fairy Tale's Revenge
Now things were getting real—we were living and breathing the haunt. This year brought the recreation of our iconic A Fairy Tale's Revenge show, and we delivered. Crowds grew bigger, word spread across Austin, and we knew we were becoming something great. Our in-house artists crafted even more original characters, making every scare uniquely ours.

For years, Liana dreamed of creating an 80's themed haunt—and in 2023, that vision became reality with Back to the Slashers! This all-new event transported guests to 1985, featuring our own spin on vintage slasher icons. It was our biggest show yet: lines stretched down the block, streets overflowed with guests, and the energy was electric. Epic doesn't even begin to describe it.

This was one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make. After years of growth, we outgrew Steiner Ranch—the very place where it all began. With crowds larger than ever and guest safety as our top priority, we knew the move was necessary. It wasn't easy to leave, but it was the right call for the future of Fatal Fear.

The decision was made—we're going commercial. A brand-new location with an entire acre to fill with scares, and still close to Steiner Ranch where it all started. But we bit off more than we could chew. At the last minute, we made the painful decision to close down. We simply ran out of time to pull off a show of this scale while staying true to what we love: building extremely detailed, terrifying experiences. It was hard, but it was the right call.
